ELTE Faculty of Humanities (1088 Budapest, Múzeum körút 4., 6–8.)

Students and faculty of the ELTE Faculty of Humanities' Master's Programme in Semiotics are organizing the SemioSyS (Semiotic Symposium of Students) student conference for the first time. The theme of the English-language symposium is Signs of (Mis)trust: Dialogues Across Culture, Media, and Technology.

The event aims to explore how dynamics of trust and mistrust shape contemporary semiotic practices, from AI-generated text and memes to political and cultural narratives.

The organizers welcome submissions from undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral students (BA, MA, PhD) for theoretical, empirical, or interdisciplinary presentations at the intersection of culture, media, and technology.

Application deadline: October 22

Submission: abstracts can be submitted via this form

Following the conference, the organizing committee plans to publish a peer-reviewed volume of proceedings from the papers developed from the presentations.
